: My sister has been diagnosed with hodgkins disease. It was discovered when she was hemmoraging out her ears, swollen glands, rash all over body and head, and retaining fluid, nausia, diahrea, fainting, and infection in scalp. We have also discovered numerous recent cases of hodgkins diagnosis recently. We are waiting on a second opinion. We would like to know if there could be something else causing all of these problems, it seems strange that are so many cases within a 20 mile radius with same symptoms. Pleas E-mail me with any information you may come up with. Thankyou

Lisa:

I read your post with great interest. Let me first say I was sorry to hear about your sister; I only hope that treatment is going well with her, and in light of a horrible diagnosis Hodgkin's Disease is one of the cancer's that is treatable.

I too had Hodgkin's Disease in 1975. At that time, another one of my classmates developed Hodgkin's Disease, and a underclassmen developed Hodgkin's as well. Like you, I felt the disease must have some viral component and felt that it was too coicindental that 3 people in one year developed it. Could there be a pattern here?
Unfourtunately, both of my friends died from the disease; but I am still alive some 20 years later.

I would be very interested in your story and what you found out about this. And, I hope that your sister is doing ok.

Peace Lorie
