In Reply to: Daughter of Cancer Victim, Can anyone help me? posted by Kerry on November 02, 2000 at 23:11:51:

: I'm 18 and a freshman in college. My dad died of cancer when I was 10. I've been thinking about him a lot lately and have been feeling depressed. It's been 8 years, but I'm still not over his death. I get very sad because I can't even remember what he looks like anymore except for pictures, but there aren't many. My mom has now gotten remarried to a nice man, but he's nothing like my father. I feel like I don't fit in anywhere. Can anyone help me?
kerry, when you have someone you love die its a wound that truely never heals. it "scabs" over, such as a wound to your leg would.i am sure what is probably happening is the stress of college (which is very stressful for a young person) is proably "reirriating" the psycological wound of your fathers death. you need to find someone you can talk to about your stress at college, and your fathers death. Maybe at the age of 10 noone ever let you deal and come to terms with it back then and that's why you'r having problems now.I hope there is someone, anyone that you can talk to.
