its a form of thyroid cancer. cure rate depends on where it has spread when diagnosed. surgery is treatment. followup is done by tracing calcitonin levels in the body. when that raises may indicate reoccurance. sometimes has an inhereted link. if someone in your direct family (parent,sibling) has it you should be evaluated. It is not one of the thyroid cancers that respond to iodine treatment.
