: My father in law had a nephrectomy one year ago for renal cancer. At that time, he had a metastatic workup which was negative. Unfortunately, he was found to have recurrance in the chest recently. I know that there is no effective chemo or radiation therapy available. Does anyone know of any trials going on for experimental treatment such as vaccines, etc? Time appears to be dwindling rapidly for any potentially useful intervention. No nonsense please. Please help.
there are lots of therapies being used in clinical trials for this type of cancer. there's treatment with il-2 (i don't know if he's had that) Different vaccanation trials also. the most suprising trial is a level 3 using shark cartlige. that was very suprising to me. i always thought that was useless, but I know there are very strict proof that has to be shown before a trial is moved up to a 3. I'd say its worth you checking it out. its specifically for metastatic renal cancer. in this trial some people get a placebo, but maybe you could figure you'r way through that. good luck, hope you find something that helps you.
