My Mother is a very active 74 year old woman that had kidney cancer and had her right kidney removed 2 years ago this past june. She went back to her 10 hour a night job after she healed from the surgery. She felt great and this past June went for a 2 year check up.A cat scan of her abdomin showed the very bottom of her lung and it had a spot. After other test and biopsies they found many spots in both lungs that had matatisized from the kidney . She started on a harsh treatment of interfuron, interluken and 5 FU, she seemed to be doing okay until she had a port put in her chest and started getting the 5 FU through it. Her neck and chest would swell and she got so weak she couldn't walk. After going in the hospital, because she developed blood clots in her neck, and having the port removed they found that the port had a hole in it. They finishes giving her her treatments in the veins in her arms and did scans last Monday. Wednsday when they gave us the results they said that the the large spot had shrunk a little, but that many more had appeared. Her Doctor is checking in to some kind of vaccine and will let us know next wed. We have tried to laugh and have a positive outlook , but now I'm getting scared. I have heard that this is one of the hardest cancer to treat. I thank you for letting me get this off my chest, and good luck to you all.
