Hi Debbie, what an inspiration you are. I am so sorry this has happened to your son. I don't have any experience with something quite as traumatic as this so I can only imagine. I was a nurse in a nursing home until a back injury stopped me from this career and I am retraining for another. But I have dealt with many different types of injuries and illnesses in both young and old alike-----never a child. I don't think I could handle that as children haven't had a chance to live yet. While older people have lived, making it a bit easier to deal with except for the fact I get easily attached.
I have to tell you, you are a strong person and I am very proud to know that people like you still exist in this world. And for the fact that you are posting to try to help another. Bravo. If you ever need another to talk to or just to listen, then email me and I will be glad to help in any way I can. firstname.lastname@example.org I am a frequent contributor to the HIV/AIDS board and check the caregivers board from time to time to see if I can help or offer support, and friendship. The internet was a life line to me when I was so bad with my injury. The isolation can be so terrible. Take care and good luck to you and your son.
