We have two monsters to contend with. The dementia seems to be progressing faster than the PD. He is still ambulatory, but is very slow. He has been diagnosed for approx.7 years, but went 2 years to neuroligists trying to find out just what was wrong. Would be happy to keep in touch with you ladies. She does remember me. She is hard to understand most of the time, but I can catch some words and she does understand me. Hallucinations and anxiety and much misperception of thins around her. Today she said they were moving her and asked me to "come and get her". : She is in a care center and I am an hour away. : If this gets to you I hope you can help. Or e-mail me. It is hard to accept that our loved ones are incapable of caring for themselves. Caregiving is the most stressful thing I have encountered. If your mom is in a good home, she will get good care. Just keep a close check on her, especially making sure she is getting enough nurishment. It is good that she recognizes you, as that will make her more secure to her surroundings. There is a good website for caregivers for all types of illnesses. It is www.caresupport@caregiving.com. I am a Newbie to this site, but have been warmly welcomed.
