: My father is eighty three and living alone in a large house across the country from me, cared for by a married couple. He has alredy given the husband his car as a "thank you" for some help..... now they want to move to another state and buy a house and want him to move with them and buy a third of the house.... my Dad is quite well off financially and I am worried that they will take advantage of him. He won't come live with me or my sister and won't consider a retirement home option. I am worried about the legal implications of him sharing a house purchase.... any advice?
rl, the safest route you can take to seek legal advise. An elderly person can be persuaded to do many things by the right, people. I don't blame you for your concern. Does he suffer from any dementia? Your post sounded as tho he is in good health, mentally and physically.
I would, with haste, before anything definiteis settled about this move, talk with your lawyer, and he can advise you just how to take care of this situation. I wish you luck.
Blessings, Betty D
