: I would like to file a complaint against a doctor
: who has been treating my mother and I can't seem to
: find how and where and to whom I compplain to. If
: anybody can give me some direction as to how to do
: this. Please help!Nancy: True, every state should have a board or boards for complaints against doctors,
medical facilities, home health care, or in other words, medical corporations. I learned I got better and quicker
results by talking with another doctor I already knew. They may take care of their own, but they, also,
recommend one another to their patients. Doctors have to rely a lot on their colleagues to refer
new patients to them. They are staking their reputations on where they send their patients.
It is in their best interest, as well as, the patients for them to help when there is a complaint. We
need the state boards, but not for every complaint. My policy is talk to another doctor first, and if that
does not help in a reasonable length of time, then go somewhere else. In Tennesse the Better
Business Bureau has, also, been accepting reports on some types of services and the treatment of a patient's
family, but not medical reports..........My mother stayed with my husband and me between three and four
years. She had Parkinson's among other medical problems. I am not suggesting don't file complaints with
state, but it is a much longer process and some requirements for help are urgent!
