Hi Hazel
I'm a calligrapher, and I began getting CTS from writing all day. I happened to buy an cheap, plastice ergonomic pencil grip recently. I found the device cumbersome, but they provided drawings of correct and incorrect ways of gripping the pen that showed me I was doing it wrong. You should only have the thumb, first and second fingers on the pen, forming kind of a triangle with the pen end sticking back or up. The ring finger and pinkie are tucked under the hand. I had my ring finger involved in the writing before, which is a don't. It's also good to take frequent breaks, which I do now. I'd also recommend doing upper body freeweight exercises. This helped me out a lot before the big pencil-grip revelation. Just be sure to keep your wrists straight at all times, and start slow with smaller weights. I had a couple of sessions with a recovery-oriented fitness trainer just to get advice and learn some safe movements. Good luck! Molly

: Hello,

: I have been suffering from carpal tunnel for a few years and have found that writing really aggravates my condition. I do much planning on a daily basis and use paper with very small lines. A friend of mine suggested that I use paper with wider lines as well as a daily planner which has more room to write. I was told that a large binder/organizer with a bigger writing area might help. I would greatly appreciate any advice that you have to offer re: writing & the size planners/organizers that you use. Thank you in advance for taking the tme to respond.

: Most Sincerely,
: Hazel Donnelly
