It could possibly be a gangleon cyst. My husband had one that was operated on several years ago. What I would do and did, was each night I would put my wrists in braces to make sure that they stayed straight. It helped eliminate some of the pain and swelling. That worked for several years before I had to have surgery. All the best to you and your daughter.
