Hi: Please try Active Release Therapy first. Surgery wasn't necessary after I had it. Check my posts below for information.
: Hi everyone,
: I got CTS in my right hand during my fifth month of pregnancy. It didn't seem to be too bad...was bearable. Just numbness in my thumb and first 3 fingers. After I had the baby, I noticed muscle loss in my thumb...can no longer do the pinch grip with that hand. The doctor said it is a profound case (even though it doesn't bother me that much except for the muscle loss!) and that I won't be able to work on getting my thumb muscle back until the pressure on the nerve is release (i.e., surgery). My question is (1) my baby is three months old and will be 4 months when I have the surgery -- how much help do you think I will need for the two weeks post-op? I know the incision will be tender for that long or even a little longer, but do you think that changing diapers is going to be a huge problem? Meaning, do you think I'll be able to do it, even if it's difficult? Or will it be impossible?? What about picking up the baby? Feeding him a bottle? I know your hand is weak after the surgery, but the doctor said that it stregthens on its own over time, and he doesn't feel that my recovery will be long at all. Any feedback would be so helpful!!
