fingers that no longer respond

i awoke one morning with a weakness in my left hand.the small finger and the index finger are no longer responding to my brain directions.i can't type with that hand.i bought a computer three months ago and spend a considerable amount of time on it.i wonder if there is a connection.there is no pain,no tingling,no numbness,just lack of movement.it came on suddenly,i woke and found a nasty surprise.i suspect something to do with a tendon,maybe carpel,maybe viral,maybe an injury as i slept.whatever it is,is a mystery to me.if it matters,i am 55.
