Yes, it does help. But you have to continually do stretches of every muscle in the hand and arm, too.
We can't use one set of muscles and ligamnets over and over and not expect others to shorten.
I have this problem, but effectively keep mobility and pain in control through treating my wrist, arm and hand just like any other stress injury should be treated.
