I also had the EMG done. The test was no big deal. Just uncomfortable at times. It's afterwards that was bad for me. I guess the test upset the whole condition and my hands and arms ached for a month. However I do believe that I do have something else wrong besides the carpal tunnel and am in the process of trying to find a hand specialist.
