Hi. My name is Marcie. I am also a 17 year-old female with carpal tunnel syndrome. I started seeing symptoms in June of 1999. I have had quite a few other illnesses, and have a low tolerance for pain, so I thought nothing of it. But a few days later, when I woke up in the morning, I couldn't open my left hand from a fist. For the next six months, I could not wash my hair properly, using only one hand. I was then diagnosed with cts. I then got wrist splints. They worked for a few weeks, but then became ineffective. I got a cortizone shot recently, on October 8. It wore of after about a month. I was told it would last longer. My parents and I decided that I wouldn't have surgery unless absolutely necessary. Would you recommend it?
