: : Is anyone using OPC's to relieve Carpal Tunnel symptoms? The products I've read the most about are OPC-85 or Proanthenois, which is extracted from grape seeds and pine bark.

: : My wife started a new job about three months ago and is showing signs of CTS. I'm trying to do some research for her to see if something like this can be "nipped in the bud" before surgery is the only answer.

: : Any suggestions would be appreciated.

: Dave: I have recently been disagnosed with Profound CTS in my right hand and Severe in my left. I go to see my Dr. on the 13th of April to see what her course of treatment will be. I have been researching options other than surgery. What is OPC. Just for your info: I have tried the hand braces and PT both with no luck, in fact the pain is worse. Good luck with you wife. I would appreciate any info anyone could give me. Thanks. Lisa.

Lisa,

My understanding is OPC also called Pycnogenol is an antitoxtant invented by a French Doctor named Masquelier. This product has been used effectively in Europe to treat many disorders including edema, allergies, chronic fatigue, and a whole list of other things. I did receive one e-mail so far from a woman that says she used it for carpal tunnel and it has reduced her pain substantially. Attached is a web site address of North American distrbutors of this product. You can find out a lot more about it through this link than I can tell you. We are looking for it locally to give it a try. I haven't found it yet but I'll keep you posted. Please let me know if you try it, if it helps any.

Dave
