I am a neuropsychologist/medical psychologist who has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis for 14 years. I am currently trying to compile a book for publication about living with disability and/or chronic illness. There are lots of self-help books on the market, but they're lacking something -- our voices!!! This book will be mostly written by people all over the country who have disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. I will write the research based parts, introductions to sections, etc. People are writing short essays or poems about what it's like to live with their disability (including the emotional aspects),their families and how disability affect the family, sometimes people just send in a funny story, or a story about something that happened that describes both struggles and victories.....pretty much anything goes. I'm also including a minimum of one chapter of pieces written by family members on what it's like for them. My father has advanced Parkinson's disease, so my mother and I are also writing pieces for that(those) chapter(s). If you're interested in participating and would like to learn more about it, please e-mail me at SkyeMaya@aol.com. Thanks for reading and take care of yourselves!
