: My son is 6 years old and has Cerebal Palsy and he is very spastic. The Drs. feel i should have a baclofen pump placed in his spine. Does anyone have any experience with this procedure? Do you feel it is a good idea?
I have a 12 yr. old daughter w/CP and for a long time fought the Drs. about putting her on oral baclofen. She has been on it now for about 9 months and I wish I would have done it years ago. I also will be scheduling the surgery for the pump. From the information I have been able to get it is my understanding that the biggest concern is infection at the sight of the implant(very rare). I am excited about the pump because there can be no fluctuations in the medication. As efficent as I try to be there are times that I forget a dose, or it is a few hours late that does effect her tone.. I hope I was some kind of help!! Good Luck
