: Wondering if anyone can assist. I have dear friends in the middle east who are the parents of a 7 year old with severe CP. The little girl may not live to adulthood and appears to have no recognition or physical control whatsoever. Where they live there apparently is also a tremendous stigma attached to a severely handicapped child such as this. They have kept their child at home against medical recommendations and do all that is possible to include her as a family member. Can anyone suggest a source on the net where this mother in particular (who speaks perfect English) can perhaps locate with another mom in a similar circumstance? It sounds like most of the messages here are from families with more hopeful outcomes. This child has never so much as lifted her head or voluntarily looked in her parents' eyes. Yet they adore her. Just hoping there is someone who can identify with these folks who are emotionally on their own and might wish to correspond or suggest some sites that would be supportive. Thanks very much. Please feel welcome to email me.
I highly recommend MUMS National Parent-to-Parent Network. MUMS' mission is to provide support to parents in the form of a networking system that matches them with other parents whose chidren have the same or similar condition. Their web site is www.netnet.net/mums/ Good Luck
