In Reply to: 3 year old son w/mild CP. Will it get worse? posted by Dena on February 26, 2000 at 09:12:29:

: My son was diagnosed when he was 1 1/2 years. He walks on his on but he holds his arms straight and in back of him and he also walks with his feet in. I asked the doctors if his condition will ever get any worse and they cannot seem to answer that. Does anyone know whether the condition worsens with age?

Hi Dena:
The damage to the brain has been done. The only way for his condition to worsen is do to consequences of his gait or posture. It took 5 yrs for the doctors to diagnose my daughter with CP. As a consequence of her toe walking her right heel never got the pressure it needed to grow properly. It is the size of a 3yrs old's. So, I highly recommend that you get your son walking and putting pressure on his heels so they don't attorphy. I hope this is of some help to you. Take care.
Cheryl
