: Dear Friend,
: My name is Dan LaLone. I am a 48-year-old man living in Springfield Mo. Some twenty-five years ago, I was given a mission by father John Maronic to have residences built for severely physically disabled, mentally alert people. You see, I too am disabled. I have had Cerebral Palsy since birth. Because of my disability, I had to live with my parents for forty years because there was not a facility in which the Physically Handicapped, but mentally alert could live in. For some twenty years, I wrote to state officials, heads of the clergy, and any others I thought would lend an ear to my predicament. After all that time, and four thick notebooks of dictated letters, all of my dreams had come to naught.
: Then, six years ago, when I was at the end of my rope, I decided to give it one last chance by going on a program called “Speak Out” on a local television station in Springfield Missouri. Others heard my ideas, and said that they had the same problem, which was the lack of proper housing for the mentally alert, but disabled family members. We met, and over a period of several months, we were able to obtain financing, land, and the other requirements needed to build the Apartment complex in which we all now live. And that is Sasafrass. I hope my personal story encourages you to never quit and continue to dream. If you would like any more information on how to get something like this in your community E-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org . I have made a video and a pamphlet that contains the ideas and thoughts on how to do this. I realize that it is different for every state, but one of the obstacles that people usually encounter in doing something like this, is simply the lack of knowledge, which prevents them from even considering a project on this level. It can be done; it just takes perseverance, and dedication. I thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope my personal story encourages you to never quit and continue to dream.
: Please feel free to contact me, I would love to get some friends online.
