Understandably, you being male are resistant to the very idea of a surgical procedure done in this are, and esp. to your young son.
However, I do think you are over-reacting, considering in this day and age the anesthetic and all. I think he would heal quicly and just fine. He will take on whatever attitude you ahve, so be strong, dad! : )

It is far more important to be sure the infection does not arise again!

Also, begin now to build the immune system with supplements and good foods, no junky, refined foods. Flora is fed by B vitamins that are destroyed in cooking and processing. So supplemnt the B with a children's B, probably from a health food store. Thsi is very important! Feed him yogurt, too, if he will eat it.
