My son is 20 months old and has been diagnoised with herpangina(hand, foot, and moutn disease) for the second time. With the first episode occuring three months ago, he had the blisters in the back of his throat, fever of 102 that lasted for 24 hours, and a decreased appetite. This time he has all of that but also a very unusual rash in his diaper, knees, elbows. There are also small red pumps on his hands and feet. I'm just not understanding the difference in symptoms this time and I'm worried that it may be something else. I want to know if the rash on his knees and elbows and diaper is common with this disease? If not, then what is it?
