: I've read al of your posts on Neocate formula.
: I have identical twin boys born two months premature on 7-10-00.
: One is normal, the other would be dead without Neocate.
: I went to Eckerds today, to pick up our latest box of four cans, expecting
: to pay the $101.00 for them. I just stood there and cried when they said,
: Sorry, it is now $50 pe rcan, and $200 per case.
: They doubled the price.
: I can only pay for it on my JC Penny card, it is now maxed.
: This is about $800 per month just for the one baby.
: We make Just $1,000.00 a year over the poverty line and do not qualify for WIC, or ANY asistance.
: Our insurance is, of course, giving us the run around.
: I fed him an hour ago, and instead of one scoop per 25mls, I halfed it.
: He eats 1 can in 2 days.
: The G.I. Specialist said they put in a claim to the insurance company to pay for it, and that it was refused and that it is on appeal.
: I called the insurance company, they never heard of the claim.
: The insurance company says the pediatrician has to order it, the pediatrician says the G.I. sepcialist does.
: All I know, is that I just want to place my baby back into the incubator at the NICU.
: He was safe in the incubator.
: They could feed him, and the insurance paid for it then.
: I just want to feed my baby, but
: What do you do when the money runs out?
: I am scared.
: We have four cans now. It will be gone by Sunday.
: Why do they do this to us, when they know without it they will die, or at least suffer?
: He was 3 pounds when he was born.
: He is now 11 pounds, at 3 months 3 weeks.
: What do I do next Sunday when it runs out?
: Apeals don't feed he baby?
: Just asking incase some one can answer.
I am sorry to hear about your problem! Insurance companies are horrible! All the money they get each year and they refuse to help you! Dispicable! The only 4 things I can think of is #1 going to your local welfare office. Explain the situation and see if there is any way that your state can help you out. #2 Go to your local town hall and seek assistance from your town. #3 See if there is any way your baby can be admitted back into the hospital as insurance will pay to feed him there and not at home. #4 Put an ad in your local newspaper explaining the situation and seek out contributions from your local neighbors. Good luck!
