There are very few studies on children and cholesterol levels. For all we know a cholesterol of 221 may be normal for that age. My daughter, now 11, had a similar reading at about 5 yr. old. She is now below 200, just like the rest of the family. What did we do different? Nothing.
: My 6 year old daughter has cholesterol of 221 even though she is thin and very athletic. She has always eaten an extrememly healthy diet--loves fruits and vegetables. We do not eat red meat or much dairy products. The dr has determined that it is not her diet but we haven't figured out what is causing this. Both her parents are thin and do not have cholesterol problems. She also has very dry brittle hair and the hair dresser feels she may be lacking some vitamins. She doesn't seem sick at all. Any ideas??????
