There is very usefull reasons for using antibacterial soaps..in the kitchen, after using the washroom. But there's another point you haven't brought up, today everyone seems so scared of germs, everything is antibacterial. If you aren't exposed to bacteria then your body doesn't learn how to fight it, which in turn will cause you to get ever sicker when you do get sick.
I just saw an interesting thing on the news the other day...they're trying to develope a vaccine against different types of infection, the theory being that if you can prevent them from happening in the first place there won't be any need for the antibiotics. As far as i know it's just being developed for things such as ear infections.
it'll be interesting to see where that leads.
