: : : : : : My four children, ages 1-8 get this cough twice a year. They cough till they gag or even throw up. This is almost constant. They barely even get a brake. They cry and say their throats and chests hurt. The doctors don't do anything, they just say give them cough medicine. I think I have tried everything. Nothing works!! This has been going on for over a week now. It seems like they might be passing it back and forth, over and over. Does anyone know what this is or what to do?
: : : : : Hi Stacy:
: : : : : My oldest suffered from a cough for almost a year that the doctors called a reactive airway. She would cough so hard she would throw up. They gave me puffers for her to use but they didn't work. Finally, I took her to see a Naturopathic doctor who told me to give her cod liver oil. In no time her cough was gone and has not returned. That was about 4 years ago. Now every winter during cold session I give her a little cod liver oil as a preventative. You can get it in different flavors now. The mint isn't that bad. I hope this has helped you out. Good Luck.

: To Anyone! how about when a doctoer tells you that your 2 year is prone to bronchitis? I too have a hard time getting him to stop coughing. I have just insisted on x-rays, blood tests. ect to rule out or help explain his constant coughing. Any input out there???
You are right to ask for X-rays to be done. In my opinion and from my experience, if a cough lasts longer than 2 weeks, an X-ray is necessary to rule everything out.My son has been coughing for 10 days, and if it persists after the beginning of next week, I will be
taking him in for an X-Ray. He is getting over an ear infection, and the doctor says thats why he is coughing.
