I am terrified because my little two year old is scheduled to have a tonsilectomy on Friday (July 28, 2000) and I'm not sure if we're doing the right thing. He has constant throat infections, some strep, some not. He doesn't sleep real well but I'm not sure if he has apnea. He doesn't eat well and I don't think he's grown any in the past 6 months. My pediatrician says that tonsilectomy is called for with sleep apnea or with 6 strep throats in a year. We don't have either of these but my son's quality of life is really sad because of his problems. Has anyone had experience with such a young child having this surgery? Any pointers? Any encouragements or objections?
