: I WAS WONDERING IF THERE WAS ANY PARENTS THAT HAVE USED THIS? CAN YOU TELL ME HOW YOU LIKE IT AND HOW LONG BEFORE YOU SAW A CHANGE IN YOUR CHILD. THANK YOU. ANY INFORMATION WOULD BE HELPFUL.
The GI dept at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore MD was doing a study on Neocate when it first was developed back in 1993..My daughter was part of the pilot study program using Neocate.
Neocate is a good formula, but its very unpleasant in taste and I found my daughter losing more weight because she refused to drink it.
She was placed on it because of extreme food allergies and abdominal symptoms....
I had to get my formula shipped to me from the company and at that time it was very expensive..after I realized that she was not drinking it, I did some research of my own to try to help my daughter. Now don't get me wrong, The doctors are great and so is the formula but I could not get my at the time 6 month old daughter to touch it. I even tried to flavor it with non allergens...But to no avail..
I don't know why your child is on neocate at this time, But I put my daughter on Rice Dream rice milk....and Boom she ate, gained weight, thrived and did well..Shoot Rice Dream even has Ice Cream.
Neocate is not very appealing to any child in the testing and they may have changed the taste but I don't think they have..
Please let me know why they have placed your child on neocate..I am wondering if there are alternatives that you can discuss with your doctor if the child will not drink this...
At the time of testing the make-up of the formula was very very good as a whole..just not very palatable....and the taste made my daughter even sicker to her stomach..
Wishing you the best
