Hi,
Viral infections are responsible for any sore throat that is not bacterial.
If the lab was negative, it had to be viral.
There is no medicine or cure for viral infections.
Docs have patients that insist on antibiotics for viral infections, and resist giving meds because know this increases immunity to the antibiotics that we may need sometime in a life-threatening bacterial infection (such as pnuemonia etc.)
Try gargling with salt water, using a saline nasal inhaler, and/or putting vicks on the throat covered by a soft cloth.
There are things we can do to alleviate the symptoms and can build up our immune systems thru supplements and nutrition, but no medicine will stop viral sore throat. So there is no reason to go to the doc unless the nasal mucus is lime green and one has pain in the face around the eyes. Sometimes a viral infection will go into a secondary bacterial infection, but most of us want instant relief that just is not available. That is the truth of the matter.
If we don't want to support the pharmaceutical
and medical professions needlessly, we need to understand the differences between viral and
bacterial infections and how to discern them.
Then we can bundle up in bed with a cup of hot lemon juice and honey tea, and get the rest we need rather than sitting at a doctor's office exposing ourselves to all the sickness there.
