I have spoken to several docs nurses regarding reabsorption of ear cartilage. many say no, that doesn't happen, others say they've heard of that.one told me that if you use ear cartilage for areas that need to be filled in (mid vault, lower lateral cartilage, tip) then it's okay, but supportive areas, dorsum, columella then you need septum or rib. As far as rib- gunter i think developed a technique for stitching the rib so it doesn't warp, and he might have taught that technique to others.
