My husband and I are having the same dilemma over whether or not to have more kids now too. My daughter Jessica is 4 1/2 years old and is doing very well. I really don't want to wait much longer as they will be very far apart in age. I did wait as long as we did to make sure we did everything we could do to get her off to a good start after she was diagnosed at 5 months. Even with the CF we agree that she is such a blessing and we can't imagine never having had her in our lives. We also agree that if we are going to be tested prenatally we need to know (and agree) on what we are going to do with that information. Not that there are any right or wrong answers. We believe we should make that choice before I am pregnant again and both agree on that decision.
I have heard various responses to the question of whether or not to have more kids. One person even suggested I get a sperm donor so as to ensure that I do not have another sick kid! Several other suggested we adopt. It seems alot of people have an opinion to our very personal decision. We choose not to discuss it with anyone else but ourselves. I only get upset.
I think we will try for another. I would take 100 more just like my Jess.
