: Hello Everyone,
: I am currently a graduate student working on a project dealing with CF. A company has come up with a
: new gene therapy technique based on repairing the mRNA in order to treat the disease. While it may
: be a while before this therapy is approved, I want to obtain opinions on the subject.
: What would a cure for CF be worth in dollars to you?
: How much do you estimate that you spend on CF drugs each year?
: How effective in controlling the symptoms are these drugs?
: How quickly and with what amount of testing would you like to see before trying gene therapy?
: Thank you for your time and any other comments that you may like to ad.

Wendy,
Yes I would be interested in gene therapy for my 2 year old girl. The problem with the cost is that CF is very expensive. We call Marth our 6 million dollar child already. If not for Medi-cal and Crippled Childrens Society paying for most of the cost I don't see how anyone could pay for the care, Doctors and medication she has now. I would like to see extensive testing before giving such a treatment to my child, but I would do almost anything to cure her. Good luck on your studies. Terry
