I hit this site searching for info regarding my 3-year-old son. He may have some of the symptoms, and I was seeking further info...
Anyway, my husband had a problem with alcohol-not due to CF-but, a problem nonetheless. He tried AA and various support groups, only to find success with Rational Recovery. Read the book, it's wonderful. It really helped him to understand and take responsibility for his problem. Be advised, if you've done the 12 step program...it will conflict with everything you have been taught in AA. If it doesn't work for you, at least consider it as alternative, thought-provoking information. The ideas within this book can be used to confront any addiction; smoking, drugs, food, etc. Best of luck, and God Bless! - Amy

By the way, my husband has been sober now for eight months. He looks better physically (the bloating in his face and stomach are gone, his eyes are bright, and he has lost fifteen pounds very quickly), he is sharper mentally, and he says he feels more focused than ever before. He does not struggle with the addiction and he has not "fallen off the wagon" within that time. It was as if he just flipped a switch...remarkable, really. Read the book!
