: My daughter, Haley, was born with an intestinal blockage called a meconium ileus. Many of you who read this will have seen in your child (or other family members) the same things. She had surgery 13 hours after her birth to remove the blockage (meconium). She did not poop for tweleve days! However, on the tweleth day, she pooped! I took pictures of the diaper, ran up and down the halls showing everyone her poop, and saved the diaper for the surgeon to see. We were able to come home from the hospital after 2 1/2 weeks. I was found to have the delta f508 gene, but my husband tested negative for the known 70 genes. We also have no one in our family(both sides) who has or ever had CF. Haley was tested on 8-26-99 for the sweat test. Her results were 75. This is a positive result if you did not know. We have had no respiratory problems, no growth problems (14 lbs. at 3 1/2 months), and little to no slimey poop. To this day, Haley poops with no problems. I am a RN who knows alot about CF. So, if there is some who needs answers or someone to talk with-- just let me know!

Dear Dee Dee,
If a person is experiencing many symtoms of CF and in underweight, will the sweat test show an accurate reading due to being underweight?
