Can anyone give me feedback on chymotrypsin levels indicative of CF? My 2 1/2 yr. old little girl recently underwent a myriad of stool sample tests due to what her ped. labelled as 'chronic diarrhea'. She has a BM about 1x a day on average, sometimes twice; however she can skip a day. Her stools range from pure diarrhea to normal (very rare though). One of these tests checked her fecal chymotrypsin level. This test came back abnormal, low (5.3). Are there any other diseases or illnesses that can affect this level, other than CF? If anyone did have this test done, what were the results of your test (what was the level at)? We currently are waiting for an appt. with a ped. specialist who will probably want to perform a sweat test to either confirm or rule out CF- I am very scared to go. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
