: Hi early diagnosis is so important, my daughter went undiagnosed for 14 months, because the doctors were saying she had no lung problems, from birth she had loose stools. Please push the doctors they don't listen all the time to what we have to say, I just know if they would have tested her sooner she would be taller right now . My daughter is very upset about her height , she is 16 now and very short. The sooner the better good luck .: We are currently waiting for our grandson to be tested for CF as the pediatrician believes that his digestive symptoms warrant the test. Can anyone tell me if early diagnosis is important....we will have to wait a month at leasty for the test...and his Mom has been trying to get help since he was 2 weeks...should we wait it out or push harder? what can be done immediately to prevent the diahriaa which has the consistency of oil? Any guidance will be appreciated

: Hilda,
: I think early diagnosis of CF is very important, very. I would keep pushing and pushing for testing to be done for this child and if a sweat chloride test is performed, you will know very soon. The test takes less than half hour, and the results are known by the next morning in most cases. If not that very day. This is the most common test for CF. You can deal w/ anything if you know what you are up against. Just not knowing is harder than knowing. Push for the test, get some peace of mind. And if it is Cystic Fibrosis, then there is a Pancreatic medicine that will do wonders for the Bowel Movements. Other than that, I don't have any suggestions as far as the stools are concerned.: Good Luck and best wishes in whatever you find.
: Pamela
