Trish,

I am a 30 year old male with CF. I can only think of a couple of ways for your daughter to have insurance. I assume you have already looked into SSI and disability. I would choose this as a VERY last resort as it will limit her abilities to obtain jobs and feel ggod about herself for the rest of her life. Second, in this day and age, with a tight job market, she should get a job that will give her insurance. If she is able to work at all, most companies will provide medical insurance to an employee. She does not need to tell them she has CF at interview or anytime really during employment.
The second way I know is only if you live in MA. MA has a very good program called Mass Health. It is insurance for disabled people that pays full coverage. Best part is the subscriber only pays a fraction of the cost based on what they earn per year. For most CF patients, that is not much.

If you need any more help, please feel free to email me.

Dan

: I am desperate!!! can some one with cf over 19 please give me some onformation about insurance. my daughter just turned twenty and graduated from school so she is no longer covered under her fathers insurance. she is now on his cobra but it cost 225.00 a month which is a little steep for us. i have tried different avenues but always end up on the dead end. any information anyone has would be grateful.
: thanks.
