: Unfortunately, one hallmark sign of an abcess is pain to hot. Some people only experience a slight twinge during an abcess and others swell like a chipmunk. All depends on the individual. As the body responds to the infection, it will wall of the area of infection. Kind of sealing it off. The body is attempting to heal it, but once a tooth is abcessed it can't regenerate. The nerve is dead.
: If it is a sinus problem, it can feel like a toothache. There will be no sign of an abcess on the xrays though. And your doctor said he seen one. If you are in doubt, ask to see an endodontist, or root canal specialist for a second opinion.

Thank you for the information. Only 1 more question. If the tooth seals itself off and I already have a cap (which I do) then is it possible for it to heal itself where I don't need a root canal and another cap? Appreciate any advice
