A phone call isn't going to hurt. Especially when a suspicious area has been found. Wouldn't you feel better knowing that its not anything life threatening? A phone call and an honest conversation concerning your illness with the doctor should alleviate some of your concerns. Should this turn out to be something serious and needing further treatment, this needs to be taken care of as soon as possible. Your life is to important.
I can't relate to your fears, but I know that I would do anything to keep my health and be there for my family. Best of luck to you.
