Difficulties like you are wondering about happen to all of us who have had braces. There will be a time when your teeth don't fit just right during treatment. They bang together wrong, you have gaps, etc. There is the discomfort, mine was never anything to bad. However, it is all worth it in the end. I too had 4 teeth extracted. That was the most difficult part for me.
There is a tremendous number of adults now going into ortho. I actually seen on the news the other night a woman in her 70's! Hey, as long as your teeth and gums are healthy, go for it.

The process takes so long, and the movement is so gradual that it doesn't ever feel like they dont fit. Certainly the day your braces are removed is something to behold! It feels like your teeth are huge. lol Its so strange to feel smooth teeth again. BUT, you no longer have to worry about getting lettuce stuck in them.

There has been talk about TMD problems being associated with extracting teeth prior to ortho. It has been several years since I had heard of this, and am not sure of the belief now. You might want to ask about this.
