I had the root canal done on Friday am. Afterward my dentist showed me an x-ray that showed that a 'file' had broken off in one of the canals. Apparently defective. He was unable to extract it and says that if I want or need it out then a specialist would have to do it. Meanwhile, the canal can't be filled the usual way because the file is there. This explanation was falling on somewhat incapacitated ears after a 3.5 hour appointment with nitrous oxide and I was not really 'with it'. I'm waiting to hear from him to get more answers to my questions, but am wondering if anyone else out there has had this happen or knows what could happen with this. Should I be doing something specific just as a precaution in case something does go wrong?
