In Reply to: Too Many Root Canal's Done. posted by Rob on August 11, 2000 at 12:10:18:

: I recently started to have major pain in my tooth, jaw and neck area. About 3 years ago

: I had a root canal done which was done incorrect and had to later go get another one done from another dentist. But the second one was done wrong also or something because next thing I knew I was back in another dentist office for another root canal

: That's 3 root canals and thousnads of dollars in bills.

: Now I am having pain from the same tooth which the dentist told me after the last root canal is now dead and should never get infected again.

: I have hit hard times and can no longer afford to go back for further dental treatments.

: I was wondering since this tooth was dead or has had the root canal part done, can I just take antibotics and be done with it?

: Please reply cause I read that a tooth infection not taken care of can lead to major health problems.

: Thank you for your assiatance with my questions.

Hi, for me root canals are nothing but bad news, they are just ripe with problems, from becomeing brittle to infections some where down the road in time, that can affect your whole bodys health. The alternative, a bridge is more costly and had it's own problems, sounds like you are between a rock and a hard place, if it is not in the front, you could have it pulled, but to leave it open is a problem also, the teeth on both sides will want to turn towards the gap. No good advice from me, except I would never have another r c done on me, it's just a problem waiting to happen. A friend had a r c done more than 20 years ago and just was never feeling himself lately, it turned out the r c had another absess started in it and he had to have it done over again, nothing for shure if it's going to be ok now.
