: Just wondering if someone can give me an opinion about dental care I received.I had been seeing the same dentist for 10 years or so with regular visits and everything else he said was necessary. He send me home after the last checkup saying i only needed a filling. When I returned for the filling he noticed my front tooth had shifted and said I had to see a periodontist. Now, after two gum surgeries, i am looking at removing 5 teeth on top (mostly in the front) and a partial with more possible extrations on the bottom, in the future. It is just not clear to me how or if, it could be possible to develop this so severe, in only year since my last checkup. I am wondering if the dentist was negligent especially since on at least 3 separate occasions in the past I went in about painful ulcers on my gums that i now know are a symptom. His response to these was that i must have gotten some food stuck in there and to rinse with salt water. I have since changed dentists.
