: yeah but half of the tooth is chipped off..so i think it is much too late for a filling.. what does a RCT do? Will the dentist put a new fake tooth in now as its too late?

If your tooth does need a RCT ,the first step will be to remove the nerve of the tooth ,that is what a RCT is.The nerve is tissue that is in the roots of the tooth and for one reason or another such as decay has reached it,it needs to be removed. So the dentist will use tiny files to remove the tissue. This can take 1 or more appointments. Once the RCT is completed you will need to proctect the tooth by having a crown placed on the tooth. This will take 2 visits, the first visit the dentist will take a impression and make you a temporary ,then about 2 weeks later you will go back and have the permenet crown cemeted on.It will all work out for you.It sounds like you might be a little aprehensvie about getting this done,be sure and express this to your dentist, find someone that will address your fears as well as your teeth,so that you will be comforatble and continue with regular dental check-ups.
