: Hi all, I had a root canal done 6 weeks ago and a crown done . The tooth still seems really tender and sore. Does it sometimes take that long for a tooth to "get back to normal?" Would appreciate your input. Thanks. Emily

Emily you might be hitting the new crown a little to hard with your bite and thats what is making the tooth sore ,It will also take longer for the RCT to heal if that is the case .I would suggest you call the dentist and have him check your bite and make sure your not hitting to hard on that tooth. It can take up to 6 months for a RCt to heal after its complete.
