Several months ago, I visited my dentist complaining about discomfort around tooth 14.
The gap between the tooth had been increasing and food was getting trapped and causing pressure.
At times flossing was vary painful. He took digital x-rays, and said the tooth (crown actually) looked
good and that there was irratation of the gums from food. He said I just needed to really floss very well,
and the reddness would disapate, and the gap should shrink. Following his advice, I flossed the area
after I ate anything, and the pain went away. However, I still have some bleeding and a bad taste
A change in dental plans gave me a different dentist. His intial x-ray showed what he said was an abcess
around the tooth 14's root. This tooth has already had a root canal many years ago. They are telling me
I will need to get a retreatment of the root canal. With frequent flossing of the area, there is no discomfort
and I have no pain.
How are these two related?
