: Hi Bonnie, you seem to be very helpful and I have a question, I just had a top molar extracted this week never lost a tooth before but I had a root canal on the small molar next to my eye tooth and it went bad and I had to have an emergency extraction. Right now I am going absolutely crazy, not in any pain gum feels fine but the hole feels huge and looks really huge, intially I was thinking it was a small molar so it shouldn't be that bad and I could wait to figure out how or if to replace it but I don't know how people deal with missing teeth. Will I just get used to this gap over time? What are my options for replacing this one tooth haven't had opportunity to talk with my dentist yet because he squeezed me in just for the extraction. It is even uncomfortable eating on this side as all the food gets stuck. Everyone is noticing the lost tooth also which is embarrassing I am 22 years old so it looks strange to have a missing tooth so near to the front.

You can have a permenant 3 unit bridge made ,it the quickest way to replace the missing tooth,I would imagine that over time you would get used to it,but you are way to young to be missing a tooth.Plus all the damage it will cause for you down the road to your other teeth if you dont replace it. You other option would be to have a implant done. You can call your DDS and talk with him about these options and how soon can he schedule a appt. for you there is no need from a dental stand point to wait because of the extraction. If you go with a 3 unit bridge a temporary can be made at the time of your first appt.call him
