I'm only sixteen, and I had my wisdom teeth done about a month ago. The holes in my gums are quite large too, and food is constantly getting wedged and stuck in them. But my Oral Surgeon gave me a syringe to clean it out. I don't think a waterpick will do any harm, but if you don't clean out the food it can get infected (believe me it hurts!!).

My Oral Surgeon told me it will take months, 5 to 8, for the holes to completely fill!!!! I wish everyone could have had the same experience with their Oral Surgeon that I did. He's such a nice guy, offers you his phone number to call twenty four hours a day, is right up on getting you prescriptions in case of infection, explains everything in great detail.

: I had surgery 2 weeks ago. I'm 37, and I think I should've done it when I was younger, because I still have on and off pain, and huge holes in my mouth!
: How long will I have the holes? Food gets stuck in there--gross! Is it okay to flush it with a gentle water pik? Regular rinsing, which my OS recommended,
: doesn't get rid of all the stuff in there.
